Book Review: Tapped by Liz Crowe

TAPPED

The Brewing Passion Series Book 1

by Liz Crowe

When wealthy brewery owner Austin Fitzgerald meets sexy saleswoman Evelyn Benedict, angry sparks fly. They seem destined to clash, until a hot hookup in a cold beer cooler changes everything.
For Austin, it's a life-altering moment that sets him on a path away from his birthright, while Evelyn must face her fears about committing to a man considered the playboy of the micro-brewing world.
The power of preconceived notions nearly tears them apart—until they meet up with brew master Ross, who opens their eyes to a deeper, even more erotic connection. But three strong personalities don’t always make for the best emotional mix and when a simple misunderstanding causes chaos, it’s up to Ross to repair the tattered shreds of their relationship.

Favorite Quotes:

You look like a constipated crocodile when you do that.

I am that guy.  And you are that girl.  And I want to be these people some more.

Listen, I already know you’re an emotional cripple and sometimes a high-maintenance pain in the ass, but I’m willing to overlook all that.

The smile he shot her made her filling melt, she’d swear it.  He’d truly turned her into some kind of drooling Pavlovian dog whenever he so much as looked at her.

My Review:

Liz Crowe excels at sucking me in and holding me rapt with storylines that I would never read if they were written by anyone else.  I am no fan of angst and her books are dripping with that loathsome curse, I know this going in so I take a deep breath and do a few stretches for good measure, and once I’ve dived in - I cannot stop reading.  She lures me in with her special unique blend of word voodoo that muddles my brain and all sense of time due to her storytelling magic.  I fell down the rabbit hole with Tapped in much the same manner I did with her Stewart Reality series.  Ms. Crowe’s female protagonists tend to be annoyingly prickly and argumentative (and generally a mirror to our own worst tendencies and troublesome traits) and I often find myself wanting to whack them with my kindle. Evelyn was no exception to this phenomenon.  Evelyn was exhaustingly obstinate, emotionally immature and grossly insecure, I found her hard to warm up to and frustrating, yet oddly, she was embedded under my skin, and as is always the case with Ms. Crowe’s tales, as much as I may have disagreed or despaired of her choices, she was endeared to me by the conclusion.  The writing was highly emotive, cleverly insightful, occasionally amusing, observantly detailed, and with an erotic sensuality that had me gasping and cringing yet continually plucking at my curiosity.   I may curse her while reading her works, but I have to bow to her craft - Ms. Crowe has mad skills.

Amazon best-selling author, mom of three, Realtor, beer blogger, brewery marketing expert, and soccer fan, Liz Crowe is a Kentucky native and graduate of the University of Louisville currently living in Ann Arbor. She has decades of experience in sales and fund raising, plus an eight-year stint as a three-continent, ex-pat trailing spouse.
Her early forays into the publishing world led to a groundbreaking fiction subgenre, “Romance: Worth the Risk,” which has gained thousands of fans and followers interested less in the “HEA” and more in the “WHA” (“What Happens After?”).
With stories set in the not-so-common worlds of breweries, on the soccer pitch, in successful real estate offices and at times in exotic locales like Istanbul, Turkey, her books are unique and told with a fresh voice. The Liz Crowe backlist has something for any reader seeking complex storylines with humor and complete casts of characters that will delight, frustrate and linger in the imagination long after the book is finished.
Don’t ever ask her for anything “like a Budweiser” or risk bodily injury.
