Book Review, Giveaway: Twisted Two-Step by Julia Bramer

“I’ve always wanted to see The Great Wall.”

“China?”

“Why not?”

So they went to China. Seven glorious days alone with him, and although the trip got off to a rocky start, they were the best days of her life.

When they arrived in Beijing, the smog was so bad it stung to breathe, and they stayed inside the hotel for two days, which in the end wasn’t a terrible hardship because they spent most of the time naked and screwing around.

Then it rained, the smog disappeared and they headed to The Great Wall. On the way there, they bought a backpack and filled it with food and water and a bottle of champagne, and they hiked up and down the winding wall for two hours, leaving the other tourists behind.

Rebecca had never seen him as enthusiastic, a permanent grin plastered on his handsome face, and after another hour, they stopped at one of the watchtowers to eat lunch.

The view was magnificent, the stone fortification zigzagging and meandering like a long, silver necklace as far as she could see over the countryside, and as Nate animatedly ticked off statistics about the site from the guidebook, they hungrily devoured peanut butter sandwiches, chips and cookies.

Then he popped open the warm bottle of champagne and toasted to their future, and his lips curled mischievously and eyes flashed white hot. Rebecca knew the look well, and he hopped to his feet and pulled her up with him.

“What do you think?” he asked in a soft and husky voice that sent shivers up her spine.

Glancing at the way they’d come, her clit pulsed and juices flowed. They’d become daring over the months, sneaking away to her old room at her parents’ house or locking the door at the office when the mood presented. Risky, naughty, so unlike her but so incredibly hot, and since they hadn’t seen another soul for a long time, Rebecca jumped on him.

Laughing, he grasped her ass, carried her to the wall’s ledge and set her on it.

“This should be good,” he smirked. “I never thought I’d see The Great Wall let alone fuck on it.”

Chuckling, she responded, “There are a lot of things I never thought I’d do until I met you.”

For Rebecca, no words had been truer. No longer a doormat, she was free to step over the imaginary line and often did, the world a thrilling, titillating playground instead of a dull, tedious obstacle course to navigate oh-so carefully.

And there she was on top of the world with the sinfully sexy Nathan Butler. He kissed her feverishly and wriggled off her pants and panties, and he spread her legs wide to the skies and lavishly licked her sodden flesh.

There was nothing to compare it to, there on the tower at The Great Wall. Dizzying, like the endless loops of bricks and stone hugging the green hillside and snaking over the horizon, and then he pulled down his jeans just enough to liberate his swollen cock and rammed into her. Her pleasurable cry echoed off the knolls and he drove hard and fast. Panting, groaning and pushing her higher and higher, they exploded together, an exquisite, blinding eruption that blasted through her and left her crumbling in its wake.

Nathan Butler knows the score. People like him don’t get to be happy. They don’t belong.

Raised by his drug-addicted mother, Nate was kicked around a lot and abandoned and disappointed so many times he can’t afford to care about anyone or anything, his existence a tedious, monotonous two-step. Quick, quick, slow, slow, run, run, walk, walk. Over and over again.

Until he meets Mason Lord. Mase is the only person who manages to crack Nate’s defenses. For the first time in his shitty life, Nate has a real friend. He trusts Mase and even grows to love him, but like always, it doesn’t last.

Killed in a tragic work accident, Mase’s death is just one more disappointment. And when the company refuses to accept responsibility for it, Nate’s heartache turns to hate and he vows to make it right the only way he knows how.

Revenge.

For Rebecca Fox, a beautiful and talented corporate attorney, Mason Lord’s death is simply an accident. Despite the very believable eyewitness testimony from the drop-dead gorgeous Nathan Butler, she successfully defends the company against a wrongful death lawsuit, upping her chances of becoming a full partner at the most prestigious law firm in San Francisco.

The partnership is all she wants, the cornerstone of her long-term plan. Then Nathan Butler unexpectedly shows up on her doorstep and changes everything, her life becoming a thrilling, titillating playground instead of a dull obstacle course to navigate oh-so carefully.

Yet nothing is as it seems. A collision of desires and worlds, a twisted two-step, but what Rebecca doesn’t know can’t hurt her.

Or can it?

My Review:

I love Julia Bramer, but I wanted to message her with shouty capped obscenities while I was reading her latest works – as she squeezed, twisted, and kind of broke my heart.  The plot is intriguing, the story is well crafted, and the writing – sizzling hot.  Revenge, betrayal, infidelity, compounded lies, disappointments, heart break, caustic mothers, bad childhood, death, law suits, toxic families, volcanically hot sensual scenes, evil schemes, blackmail - wow -  Julia Bramer’s family better watch their backs as she is a bit of an evil genius!  I was anxious, then I was ecstatic, then I was crushed, then I was devastated.  She gave me a glimmer of hope, only to snuff it out again.  ARG!  Finally, after several epiphanies, a bit of flip-flopping, mind games, rationalizations,  justifications, and even more lies and deception… well, I am not sure what to think about the ending just yet… This one is going to stay with me for a while.  While it concluded with my desired end result, it was costly and not at all a clean solution, but yet it worked.  Hmm, like I said – she’s an evil genius.
